A fake money detecting apparatus is provided to improve fake money detecting accuracy by detecting concealed fluorescent print patterns and magnetic materials from two directions. A fake money detecting apparatus includes an illuminator(20), a switch(26), and a cover(30). Plural IR(InfraRed) LEDs(22) and white LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes,24) are embedded inside the illuminator, which is installed at the lower part of a body(10) receiving a battery(12). The IR LEDs and the white LEDs detect fluorescent print patterns and concealed pictures, respectively. The switch is formed at a predetermined position around the body. A magnet is inserted into the cover, which is coupled with the body.
