The exercise machine has a base with several frame elements (11) connected together to form a housing area containing a transmission system. A pair of spaced supports (13) extend up at the back of the base and a back frame (20) with spaced rails connected at the bottom to the rear supports supports a slide element(21) which has two forwardly directed upper extensions forming the two handles (22). The transmission system has a support bearing fitted on the top with a motor (32) and a lift frame. The motor which has a crank is connected to the lift frame which has on the top side a step board (35) which moves together with the lift frame. The step board has two foot markers (36) and the forces exerted by the feet in training are measured independently of one another through force sensors.
