IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, ITS CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving the improvement of image quality by making power saving by low-power standby and sleep compatible with the prevention of the occurrence of a mark or a stripe.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; an electrifying means to electrify the surface of the image carrier to prescribed potential while coming into contact with the surface thereof; a cleaner means to clean the surface of the image carrier while coming into press-contact with the surface thereof; and a positional relation changing means to change relative positional relation between the image carrier and the electrifying means and/or relative positional relation between the image carrier and the cleaner means at every prescribed time. The image forming apparatus includes a control means to control (s25) to drive the positional relation changing means if time taken until attaining prescribed time is shorter than specified time when the image forming apparatus is temporarily restored from a power saving state for the reason other than the driving of the positional relation changing means.
