PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embedding device for information into sound signal, capable of coping with either monaural or stereophonic sound signals and of exactly extracting the embedded additive information from the sound signal, an extraction device for the information from the sound signal, and a sound signal reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: Sound signal is subjected to signal separation according to frequency bands, and the 0-th low-frequency band is changed according to the presence or the absence of the bit to be embedded among three low-frequency bands; and after the states of the first low-frequency band and second low-frequency band are changed, these frequency bands are combined with the high-frequency components. In the case of the stereophonic sound signals, the sound signals are embedded into the L-channel signals but the processing to add the components deleted for the purpose of the embedding processing to the R-channel is performed to prevent the deterioration of the signals.
