PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color slurring at the time of performing right to left reversed display in a matrix display. SOLUTION: A image display method is characterized by detecting such a cell as is in the lighting state, and a cell adjoining either the right or the left is in the lighted state in the normal display condition, and both of the cells adjoining the right and the left are in unlighted state in the right to left reversed display condition, and the detected cell is brought into the unlighted state at the time of right to left reversed display. Alternatively, the method is characterized by detecting such a cell as is an unlighted cell and a cell adjoining either the right or the left is in the unlighted state in the normal display condition, and both of the cells adjoining the right and the left are in the lighted state in the right to left reversed display condition, and the detected cell is brought into the lighted state at the time of right to left reversed display.
