PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring three-dimensional position capable of simplifying installation work of the instrument, and a software program therefor. SOLUTION: This instrument for measuring three-dimensional position is provided with: a projector 11 for projecting pattern light for forming patterns on the first plane and the second plane in an objective area; an imaging device 12 for imaging the objective area, where an object exists, projected with the pattern light; a measuring means 14 for measuring motion of the pattern on a picked-up image, using the pattern light projected onto the first plane and the second plane when no object exists in the objective area, as a reference, and for calculating a three-dimensional position of the pattern light projected onto the object, based on the measured motion of the pattern; and a reference position calculating means 24 for comparing the actually imaged pattern light with an imaginary pattern light projected to an imaginary plane imagined sufficiently wider than a projection range of the pattern light 11b and calculated based on the optical arrangement of the projector 11 and the imaging device 12, and for calculating a position of the reference on the second plane.
