MEDIUM DISCRIMINATION DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium discrimination device in which simplification of a mechanism can be contemplated by causing paper version detection capability and double feed detection capability to organically cooperate with each other.

SOLUTION: The medium discrimination device comprises transmitted light quantity measurement means 110, 111 arranged to measure a transmitted light quantity in the thickness direction of a medium 114 on a conveyance route. The medium discrimination device also comprises a measurement value memory means storing a result of the measurement performed by the transmitted light quantity measurement means, a medium setting means configured to previously set a version of medium to be used, and a medium information memory means storing information of a transmitted light quantity assigned to each medium to be set by the medium setting means. The medium discrimination device performs the measurement of the transmitted light quantity at each time the medium is conveyed, performs medium version detection on a first medium to be conveyed, and performs double feed detection on following mediums to be conveyed.
