PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera and its control method with which many pictures can be taken by effective use of recording capacity even when a plurality of images are photographed by single operation. SOLUTION: The electronic camera 10 has a lens 1, a stop 2, a shutter 3, an image sensor 4, and a focus control section 5 and photographs a plurality of images under different photographic conditions by single photography. Further, the electronic camera 10 has a recording medium 7 where photographed images are recorded, an operation section 8 which receives photography instructions from a user, and a controller 6 which controls them. The controller 6 calculates evaluated values for the photographed images from photographic conditions such as exposure conditions and records them to the recording medium 7 together with the photographed images, and erases photographed images stored in the recording medium 7 according to the evaluated values of the photographed image when the rest of the storage capacity becomes small to secure recording capacity.
