PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corona charge device, capable of forming a high quality image having no discharge noise or the like, by electrostatically charging the surface of an image carrier in a state with an electrostatic charging electrode being always stable. SOLUTION: The corona charge device 2A is provided with an electrostatic charging electrode 18A for electrostatically charging the surface of the image carrier; a collecting electrode 19A for collecting dust or the like in the air; a counter electrode 26A, which is arranged to face the collecting electrode 19A and serves as an object to which electricity is discharged by the collecting electrode 19A; a detection means for detecting the amount of electric current, flowing in between the collecting electrode 19A and the opposing electrode 26A, when the collecting electrode 19A discharges electricity; and an adjusting means for adjusting the amount of electric current, flowing between the collecting electrode 19A and the facing electrode 26A to a specified amount of electric current or more, based on the electric current amount detected by the detection means.
