Disclosed is a composition comprising an isolated polysaccharide comprising a beta-1,6-glucosamine polymer, having a length of at least four monomeric units, wherein less than 40% of glucosamine groups are substituted with acetate, and wherein the composition is sterile. The isolated polysaccharide is used for the manufacture of a composition for treating or preventing a Staphylococcus infection.
