An antacid composition comprising diomagnite is provided to have excellent antacid ability, and adhesive power and absorption capacity to a mucous membrane without causing any side effect such as constipation, thereby capable of inhibiting stomach ulcer development and treating gastric mucosa bleeding. The antacid composition comprises diomagnite as an effective ingredient. In the composition, at least one selected from the group consisting of methylcellulose, xanthan gum, a salt of carboxymethylcellulose, gum arabic, hydroxypropylcellulose, tragacanth, and polyvinylpyrrolidone is used as a thickening and stabilizing agent.
