An ink jet image forming apparatus having a cap member is provided to decrease an evaporation loss of an ink by minimizing a volume of an isolated space in a case of a nozzle unit to be capped. In an ink jet image forming apparatus having a cap member, an ink jet head includes a nozzle unit on which a plurality of nozzle plates is arranged. A cap unit(60) made of an elastic body includes a base(61) facing the nozzle unit, an outer wall(62) surrounding an outer part of the nozzle unit for isolating the nozzle unit from the air with the base together, and a support unit(63) formed to be protruded from the base for preventing the base from being in contacted with the nozzle unit.
