PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general type agitator mill which is easily started, and capable of obtaining the distribution of small grain size of grinding materials. SOLUTION: The agitator mill comprises an annular cylindrical exterior grinding chamber (8a) which is defined by an inner wall (9) of a grinding receptacle (2) and an outer wall (40) of a rotor (39); and an interior grinding chamber (8b) which is defined by an inner wall (41) of the rotor (39) and an outer casing (23) of an interior stator (22). The grinding chambers (8a, 8b) are interconnected by a deflection chamber (50). The inequality g<h applies to the radial gap width (g) of the exterior grinding chamber (8a) in relation to the radial gap width (h) of the interior grinding chamber (8b).
