A fuel cell system (10) includes a first heating mechanism (77a) and a second heating mechanism (77b). The first heating mechanism (77a) supplies a reformer (22) with some of an exhaust gas discharged from a fuel cell stack (12) as a heat source for directly heating the reformer (22). The second heating mechanism (77b) supplies the remaining exhaust gas to the heat exchanger (18) and utilizes the heat generated in the heat exchanger (18) as a heat source for indirectly heating the reformer (22). Temperature sensors (130a to 130d) are attached to the reformer (22). An open/close valve (132) is adjusted based on the temperatures detected by the temperature sensors (130a to 130d) to control the ratio between the amount of heat supplied from the first heating mechanism (77a) to the reformer (22) and the amount of heat supplied from the second heating mechanism (77b) to the reformer (22).
