PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism that simplifies a component shape and minimizes the number and kind of components, in a joy stick for operating one set of orthogonal shafts with an operation shaft. SOLUTION: The joystick comprises one set of orthogonal shafts 2 and 3 turnably supported on orthogonal X-axis and Y-axis, the operation shaft 1 tilting in any direction about the intersection of the X-axis and Y-axis, and one set of signal output means that are connected to respective ends of the orthogonal shafts and output signals corresponding to turning angles of the respective orthogonal shafts. The joystick has a retaining section under the operation shaft, a long hole in each orthogonal shaft that passes the operation shaft and is in each direction perpendicular to the turning direction, and a connecting mechanism where the retaining section of the operation shaft is sandwiched vertically with one set of orthogonal shafts and the contact surface of the retaining section with each orthogonal shaft is spherical.
