PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color wheel device that, while suppressing increase in a motor load, prevents color filters from falling through the rotation of a color wheel, and also to provide a projector equipped with this device. SOLUTION: By means of locking pins 32, 32, 32, 32 integrally fixed on a locking pin holding plate 12, each color filter 3r, 3g, 3b, 3w is radially locked on the center side from the outer peripheral edge of the color wheel 3. As a result, the rotational inertia of the color wheel 3 is inhibited from increasing, preventing the color filters 3r, 3g, 3b, 3w from falling while increase in the motor 11 load is suppressed.
