PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device whose excellent aligning property is combined with high reliability. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 100 is constructed with a pair of substrates 10, 20 having a liquid crystal 50 interposed in between. Alignment layers 1, 2 are on liquid crystal 50 side surfaces of the pair of substrates 10, 20. In the alignment layers 1, 2, portions where intensity of light made incident thereon are maximum are constructed with inorganic alignment layers 1A, 2A whose main constituent is an inorganic material component, and portions where intensity of light made incident thereon are minimum are constructed with organic alignment layers 1B, 2B whose main constituent is an organic material component.
