PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of handling an electric double layer capacitor capable of thinning an electrode layer and supplying the capacitor as a component in a state where predetermined performance is ensured. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is provided with a plurality of electrode sheets each having an electrode layer provided on a current collection foil and a case for housing each of the electrode sheets in a state where the electrode sheets are laminated via a separator, wherein an electrolyte is filled in the case and the electrode layers are impregnated with the electrolyte. In the method of handling the electric double layer capacitor, the electrode layers each consist of a fluororubber-containing binder containing active carbon and a conductive material, and processing for charging the electric double layer capacitor at a predetermined voltage not more than a rated voltage in a predetermined time when storing the electric double layer capacitor.
