Provided is a method for preparing a garlic tablet by extracting a garlic powder with hot water in the optimum extraction condition to form a extract containing a quantity of effective ingredients of garlic, condensing and lyophilizing the extract, and adding vehicle or lubricant to the condensed garlic powder. The method comprises the steps of (i) peeling, washing, squeezing, and pulverizing a garlic stored at ambient temperature to obtain a garlic powder, and extracting the garlic powder with hot water in the condition of extraction temperature of 70-80 deg.C, extraction time of 3-4 hours, and ratio of solvent to garlic powder of 7.5-9.5 v/w, so as to form a garlic extract, (ii) condensing and drying the extract to form a condensed powder of garlic, (iii) mixing the condensed powder of garlic, starch, lactose, dried powder of onion, dried powder of Gastrodia elata, and dextrin, and then carboxymethyl cellulose to form a mixture, (iv) screening the mixture with sieve of 30-40 mesh, (v) drying the mixture and further screening the mixture with sieve of 15-20 mesh, and (vi) blending the mixture with magnesium stearate, and forming the blend into tablet.
