Disclosed is an aqueous resin composition containing a copolymer (A) which is obtained by emulsion-polymerizing an unsaturated monomer composed of 0.5-50 parts by mass of a specific ethylenically unsaturated monomer (a) having a piperidyl group and 50-99.5 parts by mass of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer (b), which does not substantially include an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a specific functional group in a molecule, (with the total of the components (a) and (b) being 100 parts by mass) in the coexistence of 0.1-10 parts by mass of an emulsifying agent. Also disclosed are a weather resistance improver for aqueous coating materials, weather resistance improver for thermoplastic resins and weather resistance improver for solvent borne coating materials respectively using such an aqueous resin composition.
