<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a purchaser's merchandise purchase motivation intact even if the amount of value information carried by the purchaser is less than the price of an article of merchandise to be purchased. <P>SOLUTION: When a purchase request from a retail store terminal 101 is received and, if the amount of value information carried by the purchaser is less than the price of an article of merchandise to be purchased, a store server 104 presents to the retail store terminal 101 an article of merchandise purchasable with the amount of value information carried by the purchaser and related to the article to be purchased, as an alternative article.
