<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system wherein illumination can be used for various purposes such as illuminating an entire room as a matter of course, and also illuminating a separate spot. <P>SOLUTION: First light sources 5 comprising a plurality of LED light sources are disposed in a rectangular column shape along the fringe of a rectangular conference table 2 installed in the center of the room. Each LED light source has a light distribution in which a beam angle each is not more than 50 degrees when luminous intensity L in the direction of zero degree becomes (1/2) x L. Second light sources 7 to mainly illuminate a wall surface 6 are disposed in the peripheral fringe part of the ceiling surface of the room, and the second light sources are lighted to brightly illuminate the wall surface 6 and its surroundings.
