<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar glass optical element which has superior molding precision, in particular, has superior end face as reference for assembling to an optical system and superior assembling accuracy, and to provide a manufacturing method having satisfactory productivity. <P>SOLUTION: Glass in a softened state is integrally press-molded with a die and thereby, such a molded body that four sheets of planar glass optical elements are arranged adjacently one another, and molded into a two by two matrix shape is obtained. The sheet surface of the side, where a cellular lens of the formed body is not formed, is optically polished, the formed body is cut off into four sheets of planar glass optical elements, and thereby the planar glass optical elements are manufactured. The adjacent two end surfaces of the planar glass optical element thus manufactured are formed with the die, the stipulated formed surfaces are obtained and utilized as the end surfaces becoming the reference of the assembling to the optical system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
