PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating solid organic materials having a simple structure, capable of reducing the volume of solid organic materials by liquefying and decomposing them, and discharging the volume-reduced solid organic materials while reducing the discharge load. SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating solid organic materials comprises a loading port for loading the solid organic materials, a housing portion including a discharge port for discharging decomposed liquid obtained by decomposing at least a part of the solid organic materials to a liquid, a clarifying means including a catalyst being brought into contact with the decomposed liquid discharged from the discharge port; an oxidizing water feeding means for feeding the oxidizing water containing oxidizing substances in the vicinity of the catalyst by the clarifying means, and a discharge pipe for discharging the treated liquid obtained by the clarifying means.
