PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embedding device for information into sound signal, capable of coping with either monaural or stereophonic sound signals and of exactly extracting the embedded additive information from the sound signal, an extraction device for the information from the sound signal, and a sound signal reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: A plurality of window functions are previously prepared and the sound signals are read in a sound frame unit of a prescribed magnitude. For each sound frame, frequency conversion is performed by using a plurality of the window functions. The relations of the low-frequency components of the front parts to the rear parts of the sound frames are changed, according to the binary of the bit trains to be embedded; and thereafter, these frequency bands are combined with the high-frequency components. In the case of the stereophonic sound signals, the sound signals are embedded into the L-channel signals but the processing to add the components deleted for the purpose of the embedding processing to the R-channel is performed to prevent the deterioration of the signals.
