PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor in which deformation of a bearing member in assembling a fluid dynamic pressure bearing is suppressed to stabilize bearing performance to improve reliability and to reduce size and thickness, and a recording disk driving device using the spindle motor. SOLUTION: The disk driving device is constituted in such a manner that the bearing retaining member 11 fitted with the bearing member 8 is fixed to a chassis 15 via the bearing member. As a base material for the bearing member 8, the bearing retaining member 11 and the chassis 15, materials having different linear expansion coefficients with the linear expansion coefficient of the bearing retaining member 11 as a center are used.
