PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of changing the removing strength of smears in accordance with a smear generation state, a program for the imaging apparatus and a smear removing apparatus. SOLUTION: A horizontal evaluation data generation part 23 calculates the mean value of pixel signals in a horizontal optical black area on the basis of optional pixel data in the horizontal optical black area and outputs the calculated mean value to an evaluation part 26, and a vertical evaluation data generation part 23 calculates the mean value of pixel signals in a vertical optical black area on the basis of optional pixel data in the vertical optical black area and outputs the calculated mean value to the evaluation part 26. The evaluation part 26 outputs a gain value corresponding to a difference between two sent mean values to an operation part 27. A smear information memory 25 stores pixel signals of a certain line in the vertical optical black area. The operation part 27 multiplies the pixel data stored in the smear information memory 25 by the sent gain value and subtracts the multiplied pixel data from pixel data picked up by a CCD 5.
