<p>1,080,824. Container closures. A. KAAS, A. WERLING, and R. KAAS. April 8, 1965 [April 9, 1964], No. 14864/65. Heading B8T. A plastics sealing ring 1 comprises a skirt 4 and two hooked flanges 5, 8 which snap over a bead 2<SP>1</SP> on an upper rim 2 of a container and a rim 3<SP>1</SP> of a lid 3 respectively. Two lugs (9), Fig. 4 (not shown), moulded integrally with the sealing ring 1, have holes (10) to receive the ends of a handle (11), Fig. 1 (not shown). The lugs may be replaced by flaps or bosses. To remove the lid, a tongue (12), Fig. 5 (not shown), integral with the sealing ring 1 is pulled, a recess (13) assisting tearing of the flange 8. A groove or cutting line (14), for severance by a knife, may additionally or alternatively be provided on the flange 8. In order not to impede the flow of the contents from the opened container, the skirt 4 is bevelled at its lower edge. The construction of the container and lid, which are made of metal, plastics, glass &c., enables a number of such containers to be easily stacked.</p> |
