PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of preventing an upper end guide from forming any obstacle even when a transfer paper is taken out. SOLUTION: The paper feeder comprises an air exhaust port 31 arranged facing an upper end face of a stacked paper sheet bundle, an air feed means 32 to feed air toward the air exhaust port 31, and a paper feed means 14 to feed a paper sheet on the highest surface of the paper sheet bundle separated by the air blown on the upper end face of the paper sheet bundle from the air feed means 32 via the air exhaust port 31; and further comprises an upper end guide 33 to regulate the lift of the paper sheet P, which is projected above the paper sheet bundle when air is blown on the upper end face of the paper sheet bundle by the air feed means 32, and evacuated from a top of the paper sheet bundle when air is not blown, or when the paper sheets P are supplied or removed.
