PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a can which has a structure capable of ensuring a sufficient airtightness by a sealing material even if a seam portion has many wrinkles formed at a part on the outside from a can body on the periphery of a lid, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The can 100 has the seam portion 40 which is formed by seaming the periphery 22 of the lid 20 interposing a sealing member 30 at an open end portion where the flange 12 of the can body 10 is formed. The seam portion 40 is formed in such a way that an area E1 filled with the sealing material 30 is larger than an area E2 not filled with the sealing material 30 in a space S formed between the inner surface of the can body 10 and a part E of the lid 20 press and seamed to the inner surface.
