PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of both securing mechanical strength and reducing weight, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The optical disk device comprises: a rotation driving part for rotating an optical disk; an optical pickup for at least either recording or reproducing information in/from the optical disk; a tray to which the optical pickup is attached, and a case for holding the tray to be freely retractable, and a corner part 22 of the case is characterized by being constituted of at least three continuous faces (31, 32, 33) in which all the border lines with the adjacent faces are almost parallel to each other.
