PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable tester that can be inexpensively manufactured by enabling completing measurement and evaluation in a short time, and having high convenience because return work can be lessened. SOLUTION: The cable tester measures transmission characteristics of a cable. The cable tester comprises a transmitter for outputting a signal and a measuring instrument for measuring the transmission characteristics to the signal output from the transmitter. The signals output from the transmitter are at least two fixed frequency signals, and the frequency of the fixed frequency signal is allowed to correspond to at least two change points of transmission characteristics tendency.
