PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a proper underwater image automatically without requiring operation by a user, when a semicircle scanning domain is rotated. SOLUTION: In this scanning sonar which displays in parallel a screen 50 where a plotting area 51 of an underwater image by perimeter scanning, and a screen 60 where a plotting area 61 of an underwater image by semicircle scanning, when the semicircle scanning domain is rotated, if the rotation angleϕ2 exceeds a threshold, one's own ship position 62 is shifted automatically onto an arc of a circle 63 having the radius of R/2 inscribed to the plotting area 61 having the radius of R, and a rotated plotting area 61 is displayed based on the shifted position.
