PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp preventing deterioration of a welded part by lowering temperature of the welded part in a light-emitting tube sealing part when lighting an ultra-high pressure discharge lamp, provided with long life and a stable optical characteristics. SOLUTION: On a light-emitting tube sealing part side where the light from the discharge lamp arranged inside a reflection mirror is emitted, a wire connection member having a maximum width smaller than a diameter of an end face of a light-emitting tube sealing part, having a shape of external surface area larger than a cylindrical shape is formed at a part where a lead wire from the end of the sealing part and an external lead wire are welded. By the above, a heat dissipation is improved and the temperature of the light-emitting tube sealing part is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
