PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time-of-flight mass spectrometer capable of performing mass spectrometry in the neutral state as it is without ionizing a neutral particle. SOLUTION: This mass spectrometer is equipped with a neutral particle emitter 1 for emitting the neutral particle; and a particle detector 2, for example, a cryogenic particle detector, for receiving the neutral particle 4 emitted from the neutral particle emitter 1, and measuring both a detection time and collision energy of the neutral particle 4. A mass measuring part 3 measures the mass of the neutral particle 4 from a neutral particle emission time t<SB>0</SB>, the distance L<SB>0</SB>from a neutral particle emission position to the particle detector, a neutral particle detection time t<SB>s</SB>and the collision energy E detected by the particle detector 2. When the neutral particle emission time cannot be measured by the neutral particle emitter 1, a particle passing controller is provided between the neutral particle emitter 1 and the neutral particle detector 2, and the mass is measured by using a particle passing time from the particle passing controller and the distance to the particle detector 2.
