PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the required time for diagnosis function performed after engine stop, improve the diagnostic accuracy and inhibit adhesion of deposits to a bore inner wall and a throttle valve. SOLUTION: A throttle control device comprises the throttle valve 11, a throttle valve drive means 13 for opening and closing the throttle valve 11 and a throttle valve open and close control means 30 for controlling the throttle valve drive means 13. The throttle valve open and close control means 30 does not close the throttle valve 11 after an engine stop command and opens it to a predetermined first opening larger than an opening of the throttle valve 11 just after the engine stop command before the engine is actually stopped.
