<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information required for a sleep test and a sleep apnea test from one acceleration sensor. <P>SOLUTION: When an x axis direction is defined as the horizontal direction of a patient, a y axis direction is defined as the body height direction of the patient and a z axis direction is defined as the body thickness direction of the patient, by using the respective DC components DCx and DCz of x and z obtained from a three-dimensional acceleration sensor 2, the sleeping posture of the patient is detected from (DCx/(DCx<SP>2</SP>+DCz<SP>2</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>, DCz/(DCx<SP>2</SP>+DCz<SP>2</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>). By filtering the respective AC components ACx, ACy and ACz of the x, y and z by a low-pass filter of about 0.3Hz and using amplified output, the respiration rate of the patient is detected from the reciprocal of the peak cycle of (ACx<SP>2</SP>+ACy<SP>2</SP>+ACz<SP>2</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
