<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve exhaust emission purifying performance by suppressing deterioration of a catalyst in an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: A first catalyst device 30 adsorbing oxygen, phosphorus or the like included in exhaust gas and a second catalyst device 38 purifying HC, CO, NOx or the like included in exhaust gas are mounted on an exhaust pipe 36 of the engine 10. A first passage 53 and a second passage 54 positioned in the outer side of the first passage 53 are formed in the first catalyst device 37, and a catalyst part 55 carrying ceria is provided on the second passage 54. First and second on-off valves 56, 57 are provided on the first and second passages 53, 54. At least at the time of warming-up of the engine 10, the first passage 53 is opened by the first on-off valve 56 and the second passage 54 is closed by the second on-off valve 57 to make exhaust gas reach the second catalyst device 38 via the first passage 53. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
