<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high efficiency and high durability by improving cell voltage and preventing flooding in a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell comprises an electrolyte having ion conductivity, a pair of electrode parts and a pair of gas diffusion layers, and a pair of separators for supplying fuel and oxidant to each of the pair of electrode parts. The separators are constructed of a plurality of passage plates having a corrugated portion, and a plurality of holes are formed on the top of the head of the passage plate contacting the gas diffusion layer. The fuel or a fluid to form the oxidant are directly supplied to the electrode part through the holes. Thereby, it becomes easy to remove moisture staying in the gas diffusion layer and uniform gas composition and flow velocity can be maintained in any region, thus flooding can be prevented.
