PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element capable of reducing malfunction due to the crystallization of compounds contained in the layer provided between electrodes. SOLUTION: A light emitting element has a layer containing an aromatic hydrocarbon and a metal oxide between electrodes. Although there are no special limitations on the aromatic hydrocarbon, it preferably has the hole mobility of 1×10<SP>-6</SP>cm<SP>2</SP>/Vs or more. As such aromatic hydrocarbon, there are mentioned, for example, 2-tert-butyl-9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene, anthracene, 9,10-diphenyl anthracene, tetracene, rubrene, perylene, 2,5,8,11-tetra(tert-butyl)perylene, etc. Moreover, the metal oxide preferably shows electron-accepting property to the aromatic hydrocarbon. As such metal oxide, there are mentioned, for example, a molybdenum oxide, vanadium oxide, ruthenium oxide, rhenium oxide, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
