PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator capable of improving its reliability, and further capable of facilitating to achieve enhanced performance. SOLUTION: A linear actuator includes a stator 12; a moveable element 13 provided reciprocatably relative to the stator; a first pair of permanent magnets 14, 15 having magnetic poles being aligned opposite to the moveable element while adjoining each other in the reciprocating direction and orthogonal to the reciprocating direction, and provided in the stator with mutual alignment of the poles being reversed in polarity; a second pair of permanent magnets 16, 17 aligned with the first pair of permanent magnets in the reciprocating direction having magnetic poles being aligned opposite to the needle, while adjoining each other in reciprocating direction and orthogonal to reciprocating direction, and provided in the stator with mutual alignment of the poles being reversed in polarity; and a coil provided in the stator 12. In the first pair of permanent magnets and the second pair of permanent magnets, magnetic poles opposite to the needle are reversed in polarity between the permanent magnets each other aligned in the reciprocating direction.
