Disclosed is a smooth muscle contraction inhibitor, a therapeutic agent and a prophylactic agent for a disease of the circulatory system or a Rho kinase signal transduction system inhibitor comprising at least one substance selected from the group consisting of a docosapentaenoic acid, a salt thereof and an ester thereof. The docosapentaenoic acid is preferably 7, 10, 13,16,19-docosapentaenoic acid and/or 4,7,10,13,16-docosapentaenoic acid. The smooth muscle contraction inhibitor, the therapeutic agent and prophylactic agent for a disease of the circulatory system or the Rho kinase signal transduction system inhibitor can be provided stably and can be used for the inhibition and prevention of the calcium ion-independent smooth muscle contraction without affecting the normal, calcium ion-dependent smooth muscle contraction.
