<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of heating a fuel cell without consuming useless electric power. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system 100 is equipped with a storage means 1 storing compressed hydrogen, the fuel cell 9 generating electric power with hydrogen and oxygen, a heat pump 4 which is operated by utilizing expansion energy of hydrogen supplied from the storage means 1, and heat supply means 6, 26-30 supplying heat from the heat pump 4 to the fuel cell 9. The heat pump 4 is operated by the expansion energy of the hydrogen supplied from the storage means 1, and heat from the heat pump 4 is supplied to a fuel cell 12 by the heat supply means 6, 26-30.
