PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which enables the detection of the misassembly of parts or defective parts when assembling. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner of the present invention comprises a dust collecting chamber lid 55 to cover the opening of the dust collecting chamber 40 openably and closably, a packing 70a with elasticity provided on the rim of the opening of the dust collecting chamber 40 or on the upper end of the party wall, and a protector 70 made of elastic member on the outer periphery of the packing 70a, wherein the protector 70 is made to be approximately transparent. Thus, even when the packing 70a does not contact the dust collecting chamber lid 55 due to defective molding of the dust collecting chamber lid 55 or packing 70a or defective parts, or misassembly of the packing 70a, worker can detect the defective part from outside without disassembling the main body, as the protector 70 is approximately transparent.
