PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio system capable of achieving power-saving by switching a transmission medium used by both of a transmitter and a receiver, when audio signals do not exist or the voice level is lowered. SOLUTION: When audio signals corresponding to each of speakers 4-5 and 4-6 are no longer outputted from an AV (audio visual) equipment 1, a communication system between a transmitter 2 and a receiver 3 is switched from a high-speed digital radio transmission system of high-data-efficiency to an FM transmission system of low power consumption. When the output of audio signals corresponding to each of the speakers 4-5 and 4-6 is restarted from the AV equipment 1, the communication system between the transmitter 2 and the receiver 3 is switched to the high-speed digital radio transmission system.
