PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for remarkably improving a high speed response performance upon charging/discharging operation of an electric double layer capacitor. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is arranged so that a pair of liquid-permeable current-collecting electrodes are positioned at both sides of a separator disposed therebetween, and polarized electrodes are positioned at both outer sides of the current-collecting electrodes. The current-collecting electrode may have a conductive mesh structure such as a metallic wire net, a conductive paper, or a conductive cloth. The current-collecting electrode may also be integrally formed at least one side of the separator in the form of a pattern such as a conductive pattern printed with conductive ink.
