PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip coil free from reduction of Q factor and variation in inductance when it is mounted on a substrate, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: A spiral conductor at least whose one end connected to an external electrode is built in an insulating resin consisting of a cured material, and the direction of the spiral by wiring 102 is made parallel to the mounting substrate, so that the influence of the substrate can be reduced on the coil formed of the wiring 102 (or the magnetic field generated by the coil), the influence of the mounting form can be reduced on the coil characteristics, and the influence of the increase in the number of turns can be suppressed on the manufacturing cost.
