PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color wheel in which rotational balance and manufacturing workability are improved. SOLUTION: The color wheel 3 is formed by superposing color wheel elements 3r, 3g, 3b in the manner that light transmitting parts rw, gw, bw each oppose to filter parts gf/bf, rf/bf, rf/gf respectively, and by arranging the filter parts rf, gf, bf each in a prescribed position in the circumferential direction relative to the filter parts gf/bf, rf/bf, rf/gf respectively. Together with the improvement of the rotational balance of the color wheel 3, there is no need of repeating the vapor deposition of the filter parts on the same glass disk, so that the manufacturing workability can be enhanced.
