A body for a vacuum cleaner is provided to prevent a reduction of a suction force by erectly installing both of a dust collecting unit and a motor assembly. In a body for a vacuum cleaner, a dust collecting unit(200) is installed on a rear portion to filter foreign materials in air in multiple by at least one cyclone device. A cord reel assembly(150) is installed on one side of the dust collecting unit. A motor assembly(140) is erectly installed on a front portion to generate a rotation power. And an exhausting assembly(126) is installed on one side of the motor assembly to guide a discharge of purified air. A moving wheel(128) is installed on both ends respectively to be easily moved. And a moving handle(112) is rotatably installed on a top surface to be easily seized by a user.
