A computer system and a method for outputting optimal display in a monitor are provided to simplify procedure/time needed for resetting the optimal mode to the monitor by using optimal resolution stored in the monitor and optimize the display of the monitor irrespective of monitor property by making the computer reset the optimal mode to the monitor with the optimal resolution stored in the monitor. The monitor(140) stores an optimal resolution value. A computer main frame(130) respectively calculates the horizontal and vertical resolution, and a vertical frequency of the monitor by reading and using the optimal resolution value stored in the monitor. The computer main frame resets the optimal mode to the monitor according to whether an embedded video card(132) supports the calculated horizontal/vertical resolution and vertical frequency or not.
